The Path To Change

Make Self-Talk Positive and Constructive

Negative thoughts eat away at our ability to be happy. They lead to stress and have the potential to overshadow positive moments in our lives. To improve your well-being and live a happier life shift the tone of self-talk from negativity to positivity.

1. Acknowledge Negative Thoughts
Thinking negativity becomes habitual, which makes it difficult to recognize. Become aware of negative self-talk and acknowledge that it is damaging. How do these thoughts make you feel? Stressed? Angry? Sad?

2. Identify the Reason
Once you recognize when negative talk happens and how it makes you feel, try to understand why it happens. Knowing the cause can help you focus on the solution.

3. Reframe Your Negative Thoughts
Are you treating yourself with the same respect you give other people? Be kind, encouraging, and forgiving of your imperfections. Do not overdramaisize a specific moment to represent your whole life. Take the moment as what it is: a moment.

4. Love Yourself Unconditionally
All of us have our faults and are far from perfect. We hold ourself to extremely high standards. Allow yourself to be be wrong, fail and make mistakes.

5. Keep an Arsenal in Positivity
When negative thoughts creep in, remind yourself of the amazingly beautiful person you are.

The key to living a positive, stress-free life is acknowledging your negative thoughts and creating a pathway to reframe these thoughts into positivity.
